Solar energy: Impetus for the future development of the Macedonian economy

Abstract

This article reviews recent developments in the Macedonian solar energy sector. The first two sections give an overview on the Macedonian political and economic system and provide introduction in the national energy market. What follows afterwards is an in-depth analysis of the legal framework, including the country’s obligations under the Kyoto Protocol, and the economic opportunities for future progress of the solar energy sector, studying at the same time its effect on the overall Macedonian economy. The paper will be concluded with the main findings of the research.
