Abstract
Discovery of a significant stock of Potentilla alsatica T. Gregor (Rosaceae), endangered endemic of the Upper Rhine plain. A new locality for the rare cinquefoil Potentilla alsatica is described from Neuf-Brisach, dep. Haut-Rhin, eastern France. The population is located close to the species’ type locality and comprises several hundred individuals, thus representing the second-largest known stock. Despite potential threats by trampling, mowing, and overgrowth the site itself is included in a protected cultural heritage, raising hope to the local survival of this highly threatened endemic.
