Abstract

Asperula neilreichii was found for the first time at ten sites in the Bernese and Solothurn Jura mountains (Switzerland) between Küferegg (SO) and Roggenflue (SO). It mainly grows above 950 m in several types of habitats: Hieracio-Potentilletum, Rumicetum scutati and Coronillo-Pinetum. The number of sites, some of them difficult to access, as well as the habitats which are consistent with the typical sites of the species observed in Austria, suggest a new native species for the flora of Switzerland. In view of the fact that the species distribution is strictly limited to areas unglaciated during the last glacial maximum (LGM), Asperula neilreichii might have survived locally during at least one glacial phase.
