Abstract
Campanula excisa Murith is acknowledged to be endemic from the subalpine region up to the snowline of the Central Alps. Its preference is for rock-rubbled slopes. In the fluvial drift of alpine rivers Campanula excisa is found down to 1300 meters above sea level. The plant forms a dense network of rhizomes just below the surface of the soil. This plant cannot be integrated into any known plant society. We therefore suggest a special association with the name of Campanuletum excisae, which can then be classified under the detritus- and scree-associations Thlaspietea rotundifolii.
