Abstract
The distribution of moss species at different levels in an Istrian karst doline shows some gradual variation due to an increase in air humidity rather than to the decrease in temperature in greater depth. This variation seems to be less pronounced in Istria than in some areas situated at higher altitude farther north in the karst region.
