Abstract

This is the final part of a series reporting on a collection of hepatics made in New Caledonia, Fiji, Tonga and Tahiti in the years 1950–1952 during a mission, sponsored mainly by the Institute of Systematic Botany of the University of Zurich. Several new species and varieties were discovered and described, partly by the author and partly by specialists, in the genera Dendroceros, Symphyogyna, Riccardia, Herbertus, Lepidozia, Acromastigum, Nardia, Plagiochila, Radula, Frullania, Cheilolejeunea, Cololejeunea, Mastigolejeunea and Phaeolejeunea, and a number of new combinations or new names had to be created. The author expresses his warmest thanks to all his friends and colleagues who helped him during the process of identification.
