Abstract
The black carbon (BC) from an archaeological ceramic from the Basel-Gasfabrik site was studied for the isotopic and molecular compositions of the individual fatty acids.
The isotopic composition of the main fatty acids extracted from the organic residue of the Basel-Gasfabrik archaeological ceramic
suggests that the fat(s) used in this vessel were of animal origin (ovine/porcine).
